We can offer treatment plans for a long list of foot and ankle injuries including, but not limited to:

Crush Injuries

A crush injury occurs when force or pressure is placed on the foot or ankle. This most frequently occurs when the body part is squeezed between two heavy objects. Crush injuries can lead to fractures, bleeding, or bruising, as well as compartment syndrome. Compartment syndrome develops when swelling takes place in an enclosed area such as an arm or leg, leading to an increase in pressure that causes serious muscle, nerve, blood vessel, and tissue damage.

Fractures

A fracture is a break in a bone that can range from a hairline crack to the bone being broken into two or more pieces that no longer line up correctly. Some common signs and symptoms of a fracture include a pop or snap heard at the time of the injury, swelling and bruising in the injured area, limited range of movement, and an increase in pain with movement or when pressure is applied to the area.

Sprains

A sprain is an injury to the ligaments that connect bone to bone. There are three degrees of sprains that range from merely stretching the ligaments to completely tearing them. The symptoms of a sprain may be mild or severe, and are often mistaken as a broken bone.

Dislocations

A dislocation occurs when a bone is pulled or pushed out of place and could be caused by a direct blow to the joint, a fall, or a sudden twisting movement. Even if the bone pops back into place, injury can still occur. For example, soft tissues in or around the joint may stretch or tear, and the nerves and blood vessels around the joint may be damaged by the injury.

Stress Fractures

A stress fracture is a hairline crack in a bone that may be so small an x-ray can’t detect it. These fractures are usually caused by repeated stress to a bone rather than by a specific injury. They can also occur in any bone that bears repeated weight.

Not only can we work with you to correct these issues, but we can also help you to prevent them from returning in the future. We also offer treatments for more immediate injuries like bone fractures or crush injuries that are the result of vehicular accidents, athletic activity, and other events. No matter the severity of the pain or the location of the injury in your foot or ankle, we are here to help.
